My earliest memory is of trying to catch a feather floating in the air above me.  I do not know how old I was or where this might have happened.  I remain intrigued and awed by the wonder, beauty and horror to be encountered in our world.  Music, poetry, myth and a sense of place are most important to my art.

I began painting in the 1960s whilst studying for a BMus at Goldsmiths, London, exhibiting both here and in Paris, but art was then put on hold until retirement.

I soon became fascinated by print, during an FDA Contemporary Practice Fine Art course at Brighton University, (Hastings Campus) and have continue to develop my work using a variety of printmaking techniques.  I now have a large press at my home studio, The Green Shed, but I also belong to bipArt, (Brighton Independent Printmaking Studio), where I etch and I screen print at Sussex Downs College.  I exhibit locally at the Brighton Festival Open Houses, at bipArt and have shown at Arts Forum and The Stables, Hastings and in Lewes.

I like to use both autographic and photographic material of my own as source material. A theme to which I constantly return focuses on image making inspired by the marshland at Pevensey Levels.  Other projects stem from travel at home and abroad.  Most recent work has resulted from a visit to Finland where I experienced at first hand the landscape so important to Sibelius and also enjoyed his music at the 150th Anniversary Festival in Lahti.
